Jack Nevitt
This year, in celebration of the club’s twentieth anniversary, we were honored to have Sammie Spor,
Jim’s wife, come up from Raleigh, North Carolina to present the clubs most prestigious award on
behalf of her late husband to Jack Nevitt.
The following are some the presentation and nomination comments made in selecting and awarding
Jack for his efforts in exemplifying Jim’s legacy.
Jack has contributed many hours of his time, talents, and leadership in making the camera club a
place where the members have the opportunity to enjoy and improve their photography regardless
of their skill level.
Over the years he served as Chairman of the Field Trips on two occasions with a break in between
to serve as the Webmaster. When he volunteered for the Web master position, he was
in the final year of his studies at George Mason University in the Applied Arts curriculum. He put
his newly acquired knowledge to redesigning the club’s web site. His design efforts gave us a professional
state-of-art web site with improved flexibility to load images to the member galleries, to
post our newsletters so the club could save the postal mailing costs, and the capability to better
advertise the club activities to attract new members.
Jack is an expert on animal and bird photography. He generously offers tips to club members on
how to photograph the animals and birds in their natural environment.
Besides holding committee positions, Jack is always willing to pitch in and offer help to anyone.
Whether he runs the projector, or is guest speaker on Program night, or a mentor to someone
in the club, he is always sharing his knowledge and himself.
Congratulations Jack, keep up the good work!
