The Club organizes a speaker on any and all photography topics at our regular meeting on the first Thursday of the month. Each program meeting is announced on the calendar – which can be filtered to just show programs if required.
Then, on the second meeting in each month (usually) we organize competitions where members submit both prints and digital images for critique and scoring by local skilled judges. See more under Competitions.
We also organize workshops – both free instructional sessions and paid training workshops, normally subsidized by the club. These events are only open to club members. Workshops are also announced on the calendar and you can filter that to show just Workshop events
Once a month, we organize the Breakfast Club – an informal get together with fellow club members, guests and spouses over a wonderful meal. It is a great way to meet people in the club, since on an ordinary evening the program or competition keeps everyone busy. We meet for breakfast at Mimi’s Café in Gainesville at 10 am on the second Saturday of each month (except November, which is Nature Visions weekend). It is helpful to give Joyce Harman an RSVP a few nights before the Saturday, since she reserves a table Friday night and needs to give the restaurant an idea of how big to make the table. Having said that, you are welcome to come even if you forgot to RSVP, we will always have room.
Most of the time at the Breakfast Club we will have some sort of photo shoot or photo related event that day, usually a shoot in early morning light someplace close by. Check the Latest News and the Calendar for updates about a week ahead of time, and we will also send out an email with the exact location. The weather can determine where we go and what we do.
Finally, we organize field trips to areas and locations of interest to photographers. These are often discussed in the forum, and announced on the calendar when they are firm.
